I plan to repaint the car eventually but haven't determined what color as of yet. I understand that yellow was not a common color and only a few cars arrived in the States with this color. A few modifications were made well before I got the car; stainless headers, Aluminum flywheel, Dellorto Carbs. Due to a complete change of circumstances this is now available. The car has been completely stripped. Originally a federal LHD the chassis has been shot blasted and sprayed in black. Imported in 2017 I have all receipts, paperwork and proof of uk duties paid. Most original parts are with the car including a full set of five polished wolfrace wheels, two new alloy petrol tanks, replacement front windscreen and new bulkhead– To be clear this a full restoration project but a HUGE amount of work has already been done. The really difficult work of stripping rear hub carriers and not damaging them is already done. The chassis has had the pedal box mounts remanufactured to make the car right hand drive but it could just as easily be returned to left hand drive. I have hundreds of photographs of the car as it was stripped down. Most parts can be sourced via SJ and other reputable classic Lotus parts suppliers. There was never a 169J produced however engine No. 13517 was a red S1 fitted to 169H & this S1 started life off RED (See Pics) This 1977 Lotus Esprit S1 is a non-running project that was acquired by the seller in 2019, reportedly after an extended period of enclosed storage. The car is finished in metallic brown over a tan interior and features a replacement 2.0L inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transaxle. Additional equipment includes S2 Turbo-style bodywork, 15″ BBS basketweaves, and an aftermarket sun roof. This S1 project is offered at by the seller at no reserve with a spare set of carburetors and a Tennessee bill of sale. Originally delivered in red, the fiberglass body was refinished in metallic brown during previous ownership. S2 Turbo-style body updates are believed to have been completed by Lotus Prepared by Claudius of Cerritos, California, including revised bumper covers, a front air dam, NACA ducts on the rocker panels, and a vented engine cover. BBS 15″ basketweave wheels are mounted with Nitto Extreme Performance tires up front with Bridgestone Turanza tires at the rear. The seller notes that the car can be rolled and steered, and the tires will require replacement. The interior retains worn cloth upholstery, lifting leather trim, factory switchgear, and a two-spoke steering wheel. Some dirt and a damp smell are noted by the seller. Veglia instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer and a five-digit odometer that shows just under 44k miles. Exact mileage is unknown. The replacement, naturally aspirated 2.0L inline-four is equipped with Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and is mated to a five-speed manual transaxle.
