Only a small number of S1's are still registered with DVLA, most of which are red or yellow so don't miss out as they just don't come up very often. I have owned this car for a little over 20 years, unfortunately 10 of those it's been in storage. The car in original with only two changes, a period sunroof which is well needed in the greenhouse like cockpit and a previous owner fitted spot lights into the front bumper. Apart from that the interior although faded is original, the drivers side carpet is very warn but was kept so we have a cutting template for a replacement. Has the original Wolfrace wheels, even the spare has its original coating on it. In the back we still have the very rare green fabric cover that goes over the engine cover, it's rolled up in the pictures as it's shrunk over time and I didn't want to damage it. There is a section of boot carpet that is also is a bit of a sorry state but again kept for a cutting template. I was using the car as a rolling restoration, had work done on the electrics, fibreglass vehicles are known for earthing problems. Had a full engine service and cam belt change, work done on the breaks etc. All this was done before I was driving it around at the weekends. As she's been garaged for the last 10 years she will probably need most of this done again. I did attach a battery and after a little while the electrics did start to come back to life, so long without power she just needs a little time to wake back up. I didn't use the breaks but the hand break works fine. Although the cam belt looks in good condition and although I hadn't done many miles on it I would change it, if that goes the engine goes and then everyone will cry. Unfortunately with covid my circumstances have changed again and it'll be another number of years before I'm in any position to have work done on her, so as much as it's killing me to do it she's off to auction. She deserves to be driven and seen. I can assure you when you're out in her you will make a lot of new friends, get stopped at traffic lights, car parks, driveways you name it someone will want to talk to you about her and if they're lucky you let them sit inside her. A lot of childhood dreams are relived with her. SO THE AUCTION DETAILS:- The auction is being held on the Friday 30th June at 12noon. Esprit enthusiasts may wonder what happened to the car. The car was exported to Western Australia in mid-1984. It was purchased in the UK by Neil McLean on behalf of Kevin Levitt of Yokine, Western Australia. On arrival in Australia, I recognized the car by its plates as the press car - I had magazines featuring it. Levitt sold the car about two years later to an owner in Canberra, without telling the buyer that it had been RCL 377R, the press car, so this part of its history was lost for future owners.
