The Lotus Esprit looks exactly like the movie car, including an almost identical registration plate, and signatures of Caroline Munro and the late Sir Roger Moore. This very special Lotus Esprit is offered by the same collector that earlier this year sold several James Bond Aston Martins, licence plates and watches (all sold), and is also still offering his Quantum of London yacht for sale. The Lotus Esprit S1 on offer now is the UK’s number 1 tribute car to the 1977 movie The Spy Who Loved Me. This Esprit is a stunning example in fresh Monaco White with newly re-trimmed interior in the iconic 007 green tartan with orange carpets. The head restraints were re-upholstered to be plain green as opposed to tartan despite the brand new interior restoration as the actual movie car was to this specification. Legend has it that Roger Moore complained about the original tartan head restraints, saying that they clashed with his complexion – hence Eon had to revamp accordingly. The right-hand drive car has also undergone further bespoke works by way of the missile buttons on the gear knob and steering wheel along with the centre console radar screen. Furthermore, a limited edition painting which was signed by Sir Roger Moore, Caroline Munro and the artist, has been professionally laminated and upholstered into the glove box of the dash board. The car is registered PPW 306K, which adds to the overall dynamic effect of the car as the first six digits are identical to Bond’s S1 (which reads PPW 306R) and with a black screw cap strategically placed, who would think any different? Whilst several direct approaches at various Bond Events have been made for the number plate, this registration will not form part of any separate purchase as it is entirely unique to the Lotus, its provenance and is a primary factor in this fine example being the UK’s number one “The Spy Who Loved Me” tribute car. A pure joy to drive and admire with all factory matching numbers and provenance to accompany the overall package. Every last detail has been met including the front underside spoiler in black. This beautiful car has been meticulously housed inside the collectors showroom for the last few years and prior to this was on display in Casino Square, Monaco during exclusive Bond Promotions. Now worth about £15,000 at 80,000 miles. Much better to drive than expected, A bit of a workout though, and much more reliable than everyone said it would be. Superb looks, nothing matches it for attention; getting more than the rich boys up the road in their Aston, Ferrari and 911s. It's not fast by today's standards (Hot hatch fast) and extremely noisy, which sounds awesome, but forget going on holiday in it. Integrated Air Conditioning, CD/Stereo, new tyres, clutch, pressure plate, brakes, carpet, springs and Spax adjustable shocks. Parts and repair manuals, plus lots of spares are also available. Drives well, asking $24,000 or offer. Car in WA. Call 0409 885 766 or email lionelmac@iinet.net.au for more photos and information It is a UK car imported into Australia maybe 25 to 30 years ago. I purchased it in 1991when it had 47858 miles on the speedo, This is the story since I have owned it UK delivered vehicle privately imported into Australia - I purchased it in 1991 locally at 77,020Km. I have fitted an integrated air conditioner/heater unit and replaced most of the mild steel nuts & bolts with stainless steel ones, zinc plated all the brackets etc that were just mild steel, replaced the clutch & pressure plate, reconditioned all the master & slave cylinders in clutch & brakes with stainless inserts and new pads, renewed the rear springs, replaced all shocks with Spax Adjustables, replaced the lower link bushes, and rear axle uni-joints, re-trimmed the interior with leather and re-carpeted the interior. Replaced the speedo with a Lotus metric unit, replaced the fuel filler pipes with S2 ones which have locking caps, fitted a CD/Stereo and speakers, and fitted a high brake light. I have replaced all the gear linkage bushes with urethane ones. I fitted new modified engine mounts. I replaced the red clutch pipe with a braided one, fitted an Odyssey Battery and an onboard charge and maintain unit, added a Fuel Star to the fuel line to cater for unleaded fuel. I then fitted a Pertronix Igniter ignition kit to the distributor & a matching coil. It has new tyres on the original Wolfrace alloy wheels. All of this was done in the last 1000Km and it has now done 78,000Km. After all this time the paint does need some attention. Yes when you check the years and the kilometers it has only done about 1000Km since 1991. I am driving it now though and it drives a treat. It now just needs a new owner, as I need a new project.
